I honestly don't ever see this happening. I would like to, but there are several I work with I am worried they have an e-mail account. It is stretching the limits allowing them to drive....

This is really a non starter, granted of anyone that I would be comfortable with being armed would be another service member, I also know that some people can pop, and letting them pack, well I am good letting the MPs carry and as I said before when at Pendleton I had to keep mine in the Armory, this served to give me peace of mind that one of my roommates might take my weapon and do something that would ultimately land in my lap. So check it out when you want to go to the range, or as I did go hunting. Maj Marty Hogan

As with most such things in the Military, it will probably wind up as individuals authorized "With the permission of the base commander".
The guidelines may include such criteria as rank, sidearm proficiency, specific training requirements through MP co-ordination, etc. etc. (We all know how the Brass goes on, and on.)

That useless excuse for an Army major only shot up thatcadmin processing center because he KNEW, like everyone else, that no one in there was armed. He didn’t walk into the Ft Hood MP station and try it, did he? Just like the idiots in the Florida HS, Pulse nightclub, Sandy Hook, et al, didn’t try it at the local police station , did they? We all know the answer in our hearts, criminals (even the truly insane ones) don’t attack hard targets. The ‘private’ would shoot a ‘major’ if he were properly trained and saw the ‘major’ murdering his fellow soldiers. The right to self defense should least of all stop at the gates of those sworn to protect others.

Also, because he was a coward and a militant sympathizer. As far as an armed private shooting back would depend on how well trained he/she is. I would hope they would, but you never know. I know I would have.

I want to be able to have my firearm in my car. I am not as worried about wanting to carry on base. I drive a good distance to drill through the middle of nowhere every month. Having my personal firearm in my car would help me feel safer. I would know that if something happened and my car broke down or something I wouldn’t have to worrk about someone doing bad things to me while I was waiting for the tow truck.

I’m permitted to carry open or concealed anywhere in Texas where it’s legal. I can carry in my truck 24/7 if I want to, which I do, and I do.

You two make my point, why can a service member legally carry once they leave the confines of a military facility, but not on base? To be honest, I’m licensed to carry, but choose not to, unless a specific circumstance calls for the carry. When I see some rather suspicious looking open carries, it does concern me.
