Very interesting read SSgt (Join to see) - I like the fact that the Government is starting to see the influence of Facebook across the world and power that Facebook is obtaining. I think they are getting pretty powerful - why doesn't our monopoly laws haven't kicked in? Because its international and not in just the United States. Wild.

Okay SSgt (Join to see) I recognize that Jonah M. Kessel and Paul Mozur may well believe that "Behind the scenes, Facebook is involved in high-stakes diplomatic battles across the globe that have begun fragmenting the internet itself."
However the DARPANET created by DARBA long ago is wonderful because it consists of input from myriad sources and contributors. The advent of the Blog and Twitter has done more to influence the "internet' than Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook have been able to achieve. Certainly they are trying to work a top down approaches they discuss the issues with leaders of nations. the beauty of the internet and allied technologies is the ability for those repressed peoples of the world to circumvent the government control.
