Self-Driving Cars Can Be Hacked By Just Putting Stickers On Street Signs

LTC (Join to see) This is a part of my concerns with self driving cars. An auto pilot on a plane doesn't have to deal with road signs, and (hopefully) the radar will be able to detect and avoid collision with another aircraft in the area. With cars they don't have that advantage. They cannot change altitude to avoid a collision. They are limited by the road they are traveling on. When I ride my motorcycle, I am not concerned about me doing something stupid. If I do I accept those consequences as my fault. I am concerned about the traffic around me doing something stupid, not paying attention, or simply not seeing me. Autonomous cars rely on interpreting data received by sensors. If it misinterprets data, the car can cause an accident with catastrophic results. This test makes that argument. A simple sticker can cause an autonomous car to misread a sign. Worst case scenario, love hate stickers added to a stop sign in front of a school. Not only does the autonomous car not stop, it accelerates to 45 miles an hour going through a school zone. Huge safety hazard.

What if harry potter and his pals walk into traffic with their cloak of invisibility... who is going to pay to have my car fixed. I am joking there, but if someone were in maybe a Halloween costume, would the computer recognize them as an obstacle?

LTC (Join to see) - Unless it is a clown costume in which case it is a target and justifiable. Otherwise, I would hope it recognizes it as an obstacle.

LTC (Join to see) - KILL IT WITH FIRE!!! or autonomous cars, guns, bombs, send them to DPRK, just kill them!!!

LTC (Join to see) I feel there will be some serious accidents on the road (God forbid) and I'm very concerned about motorcycle riders as well with these cars roaming the roads!
I'd like to get the Top Influencers thoughts on this as well.

We are being asked to put our lives in the capability of a computer programmer. So from a motorcyclist perspective, what constitutes a motorcycle ie another vehicle on the road? If the computer cannot recognize a road sign because of some stickers, will the color or some basic customization of a motorcycle make it invisible to the computer?
