Believe it or not, my father actually landed on Biak, although a year after the battle (on or soon after 17JUN45). My father, then Ensign Jack Curlee, was the engineering officer aboard USS LST-78 and was initiated into the SOLEMN MYSTERIES OF THE ANCIENT ORDER OF THE DEEP (becoming a Trusty Shellback) by crossing the equator that day at latitude 00 deg 00' 00" and longitude "SECRET". USS LST-78 was enroute to Biak Island from Leyte, Philippine Islands, so the longitude was near 136 degrees. I have no idea as to how long they remained on Biak.
