Also, add these:
1. “I don’t care….” You do care but you may not have an opinion on this or you are undecided
2. “Are you busy….” Better to say- “May I have a moment of your time”
3. “I’ll be honest….” Better to say- “I’ll be candid”
4. “Better have thick skin for this……” abusive conduct will follow this statement
5. Saying too many, “I’m sorry….” Better to say “Thank you for being patient”
6. “You are making me angry….” Better to say, “I am struggling to regulate my emotions”

On #2, I have been lucky enough to work with some really great leaders (and of course some others). I remember one of the very best was able to listen thoughtfully to a position and then ask questions with genuine interest in the thought process. Before long, the staffer would have a completely different proposal, but honestly believe that he had developed it himself. He would then go out and pursue the new course with a passion. I was fortunate enough to go to many such meetings with him and his thoughtful questions were always able to influence people to go his way while believing it was their idea. The best I ever saw at "stepping on a boot while leaving a shine." (Of course, I guess that saying doesn't mean as much in an Army where boots are not shined!)

“So there I was…” That just like "Way back when during the Great War" Grandpa's Rambling and will garner the same reaction I get from my Nephews occasionally "Yeah Right". Great List and very appropriate and correct.
