SP5 Mark Kuzinski thanks for the historical perspective on Colonel Robert E. Lee resigns from the United States army two days after he was offered command of the Union army and three days after his native state, Virginia, seceded from the Union. I wouldn't have never got this one. Well received and profoundly stated. Nice read.

Fort Hamilton, New York where I joined the Army in 1969 has a house that was used by Robert E Lee when he was stationed as Commander of the garrioson in New York, assigned to improve defenses of Fort Hamilton. I always found it interesting all this history.

Offered the head general position of Union forces, he could not do it. He could not go against his native Virginia. He was an honorable man, who is still held in high accord among military members.
