The U.S. foreign-born population reached a record 47.8 million in 2023, an increase of 1.6 million from the previous year.
In 2022, the number of unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. showed growth for the first time to 11 million.
In addition, about 500,000 immigrants arrived in the U.S. by the end of 2023 under programs created for Ukrainians (U4U or Uniting for Ukraine) and people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela (CHNV parole). These immigrants mainly arrived too late to be counted in the 2022 estimates but may be included in future estimates.

We are all descendants of immigrants. My maternal Grandmother came here from Sweden in 1906. My father's ancestors came here from Scotland in the early 1800s.
Even my wife, a full-blood Navajo, has DNA from East Asia, Polynesia, and South America.
The history of humans is the history of immigration. From the first man to walk out of Africa to present day, mankind has moved (immigrated) from one place to another.

MSG Stan Hutchison - It wasn't all Trump but if you read the entire bill you may want to thank those that opposed the bill to include Democrat key figures like New Jersey Senator Cory Booker and California Senator Alex Padilla expressed their opposition to the bill. A couple of major concerns were as follows:
Tying Immigration Measures to Foreign Military Funding: The bill's provisions were linked to funding for Ukraine and Israel, which some lawmakers criticized as using immigration policy as a bargaining chip, undermining its integrity and humanitarian considerations.
5,000 Average Daily Encounters: A mandatory closure would be triggered if the average daily encounters surpassed 5,000 over seven consecutive days.
8,500 Single-Day Encounters: If there were 8,500 encounters in a single day, this would also result in an automatic border closure.
The argument was made that the bill was not in the best interest of the United States.

SPC Jeff Daley, PhD - But stopping it was in the best interest of Trump. He even bragged about getting it stopped.

MSG Stan Hutchison - Stopping that bill and giving Trump something to campaign on is no different than democrats not codifying Roe V Wade for 48years so saving women can always be an election issue. Both partys do it.

MSG Stan Hutchison - If you have done something in the best interest of the country any and every politician wants you to know about it. Not so much when it all goes south. - May it a great day!

There are some saying we have 25 million not 11 million. There are 70 million Americans with a criminal background according to an article I read. (That is 21.2% of us.) According to the same article, there are 662,566 illegals with a criminal background. (That is 6% using the 11 million rather than 25 million)

SSgt Robert Simonds - The 42M increase was calculated from the period starting in 1990. 2023 gave us the largest increase in the immigrant population.

SPC Jeff Daley, PhD - No it wasn't. The democrats have for years been covering up their plan and lying to the people is just part of it. If you had watched one news instead of Cnn Or ABC the main stream you would get the truth. and that isn't a far right source, unless being honest is only a far right thing. You know you may be right Only the honest news you call far right wing. Wonder where that puts you., My guess would be far left. One News and News Max are the only true big news sources there is any more. They are the most reliable news sources. If you check every mainstream new co. is owned by members of the democrats movement. They think , talk, act and cover up for them. NOT HONEST.
