I think you misjudge America.
And, there were trans, gays, and migrants fighting and dying in Vietnam. and in Korea. and in WWII.
And in the American revolution.

im sorry in advance ....did not mean to be offensive or to offend....but with the Wolfhounds of the 27th Infantry of the 25th Infantry Division it was not advisable to be gay nor to act gay .......if you were a grunt , an 11Bravo Grunt then you would know theres only one flag flying at the end of the day ...because of the sacrifice of grunts on the ground .....and those grunts were men united under one flag wanting to live and not die in some stupid place called nam....

The question is far less about who than it is about what, IMHO.

I am a "combat" vet of both Iraq and Afghanistan. ("Combat" because while I was shot at in both, I never actually engaged in legitimate combat, and I do not want to imply that I was.). I was there for the end of Bosnia. I am now retired, but I see our current global engagements (not all of them, to be fair, but enough).

And I say that we have not shouldered weapons to defend OUR freedom in over 75 years. At least not in pitched battle. We have been busy defending everyone else's freedom. And there is a certain nobility to that.

But were Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, Egypt, or Libya an honest threat to our freedom?

Again, I am not saying there is no purpose, no benefit, to these engagements. But defending our freedom ain't it.

Asking people to take up arms to defend THEMSELVES is an exceptionally easy task. Asking them to take up arms to defend OTHERS is much more difficult. And that is, essentially, what our military has become.

Yes, obviously, if we are attacked, they will defend. I am not at all denying that. And they exist TO defend us. I am not suggesting that their mandate has changed. Just that since there have been no true assaults to defend (yes, in part, because our military stands ready), they have had a lot of spare time to defend others. The mandate hasn't changed, but the utilization has.

But yes, if it came down to it, "the trans and gays" would defend us. This is NO LESS their country than it is yours or mine. I would go so far as to bet they would fight even HARDER. Because whatever oppressive regime was trying to take over, it is a fair bet that they would not be near as understanding and accepting of "alternative lifestyles." Us straight cis folk could go on with life as (relatively) normal.

The migrants are another story. I believe it would largely depend on where the migrant was from and what the attackers were offering. I think 50% would fight for us, 15% would fight for them, and 35% would stand on the sidelines and try not to die. Give or take 5%.

I love ur analysis ….great points all around ….but the response I was hoping for was more along the lines of death and dying and and pain and suffering ……the dead die but the survivors continue ….death hurts ….

Remembering the dead is not good enough ….they must be honored for their sacrifice ….
