What are your thoughts on the move in Texas to promote state-wide carry laws?

Story from TX Law Shield; a TX lawmaker has a proposal to allow anyone to carry in the state as a federally protected right. Criminals carry without thought to the consequences. I like the thought of at least passing training, knowing some law and agreeing to additional responsibility IOT carry. Your thoughts?

I personally don't mind open carry, I don't however because it makes some folks nervous and I've had to play the 50 questions game in the past.
I also had a looper berate me for being a fascist because I had my pistol on. Think about how stupid that incident was, let me get in a guys face, I don't know, who has a 45 strapped to him and berate him for carrying a gun. Concealed carry is much better in my humble opinion.

Hell yes, the reality of the situation is that predators only attack when the see weak looking prey. They are not looking for a fair fight. The only true equalizer for a law abiding person is a legal gun. The founders were clear that nothing should interfere with our right of self preservation up to and including a tyrannical government.

I'm as active as the news, and active users spreading the news and drama (if that makes any sense).

Also think it is improved conceal because if I don't a person with mal intent will make me the first target of I open carry.
I am in a state where I am not allowed to open carry. I can only transport a gun to a home or gun store or a range. I have to have it locked in the back with ammo in a separate compartment. Truly unconstitutional. I want to carry. I also used to have a cc in Virginia but not being able to carry between my home and work made it pointless.

Merry Christmas to you and your family! I feel I can say that because PE Trump says its ok.

SFC Jim Ruether Nowhere does the 2nd Amendment that you are allowed to have a gun to defend yourself. It was written so that the militia could be an armed militia. While our view of the right to open carry differ I am fully on board with if it's truly concealed then nobody can say anything because they don't know you have one. I have a gun that fits every occasion. A .32 Tomcat shorts gun, a Sig 232 summer gun, and a Glock 21 winter gun. I adjust according to what I am going to be wearing and have sent tons of money on finding the right holsters for concealed carry.

SFC (Join to see) - I'll cross MD off my list of places to live then. I also think that "bearing arms" is using them. When and where May get into legal issues but I think it means more than ownership.

There is a company called second call defense that provide service as a defense insurance company. If you pay the insurance they will provide legally services for shootings because a legal shooting can really jam you up in this state.
I agree there should be a specific level/standard of training that should be passed. Not just on how to point, pull the trigger and hit a target. It should also cover the actions, consequences and ramification of pointing a gun at someone and either pulling the trigger or not pulling the trigger. Unfortunately many people believe that if someone threatens me and I have a gun all I have to do is pull it out, point it at them and they will run away. They don't think about what happens if I shoot someone or if I can't shoot and they take my gun away from me and shoot me with it. Training should be more then going online answering a few questions and bingo I can carry a gun. I believe in and support the 2nd Amendment but I've seen people that shouldn't carry a stick let alone a gun.

If you merely pull your gun and point it at a threatening individual you have just committed Assault with a deadly weapon in some states. Never pull unless you intend to use it to defend yourself against death or serious bodily harm
There will be lots of debate on this topic. I have no problem with people openly carrying weapons as long as they are certified to do such. Good debate question!
Washington is an open carry/shall issue state. Anyone that is legally allowed to own a pistol can legally open carry that firearm in places that it is legal to do so. Concealed carry requires a permit/license.
I carry concealed, unless I am wandering around in the woods. I have noticed an increasing number of people open carrying their firearms. It never has bothered me. It's amazing to me how many are totally oblivious to the number of weapons the may be surrounded by at any given moment.

Thanks for the tag MAJ Charles Blake Very interesting read. I'd really like to see how this pans out. Could set the bar for all States. Me personally I'd still like it left at State level for the reasons I listed in my previous post. In my State we can either conceal or open carry. Depending on the day of the week I chose either.
