Bowe Bergdahl has been charged with Desertion, but what should his punishment be?

Call me old fashioned, but I cant help but wonder if this guy might actually get the death penalty for what he did. Potentially he may be an asset, but my guy is telling me this guy did something far worse. I have no proof of anything, nor do I claim that he actually did something to harm the USA. But my guy tells me otherwise. What do you think will happen to him?
