With the recent spam attack on RallyPoint should verification for a new account profile sign-up be verified in advance before a member is allowed to be a part of RallyPoint?

Sending an email notification to certain Admins, RallyPoint Staff, or thrid party service to verify an account in advance, whether its a civilian supporter or recruiter, military family member, civilian, service member, retiree, potential recruit, or veteran profiles could potential stop the fake accounts and spammers.

Yes, this could be time consuming and it may not be the actual fix, but it could save RallyPoint and it's Members from "fake" accounts being set up and spammers sending out ridiculous, rude, or bad content.

There may some variations of the process that is being discussed, but this is something RallyPoint should think about. We have some IT experts and Web designer experts out there that may have some awesome suggestions - what are your thoughts or ideas?

Yeah, that anonymous stuff needs to go too. Either stand by what you say or don't say it.

Exactly, if you type it out and then submit something for this board to read, then by all means then you should accept the consequences of your actions. Not try and hide behind a PC Monitor screen if their found to be wrong on the info they post, this the norm why most people post as anonymously for this very reason so they don't have to own up to the consequences.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs We need to find a way to keep trolls and scammers off of our site while allowing legitimate civilians, veterans and service members to become RallyPoint members. It is too easy for anyone to create an account under a fake name and claim to be a General or whatever they want to be. It would be great to be able to block the IP Address of some of these trolls that repeatedly sign back up as a member after their account has been closed.

Theodore, my understanding is that RP is only military oriented and that civilians are not allowed in the group. Having civilians in RP would create a lot of confusion and destroy the Esprit de corps among military members. My question to you is, What is a legitimate civilian???

SFC Chuck Martinez - Civilians are allowed on this site. We have many outstanding civilians on RallyPoint that are supporters and contributors. We have spouses and family members of military members, recruiters, potential recruits, folks with military/veteran companies or websites, RallyPoint staff, etc.

Sgt (Join to see) - Those I can understand, those civilians that are in support of and contribute to our military members retired and active duty. I call them Patriots but opening RP to the general public, I rather just leave the group. I think the membership standards have to be very clear!!

Just a reminder, only senior level admins, those of us with the 4 star icon by our profile pictures, can take action on profile. Tagging a non-admin doesn't do anything.
