Yes he is! If this story doesn't put a lump in your throat, I don't know what would... I volunteer every thursday (1000-1400) at a Respite care place for patients who are battling dementia. Some are in the early stages and others advance. There are at least two WWII veterans, one who flew many combat missions; LTC retired... They're all sweethearts! I look at them and can only imagine how tough and HOOAH they were back in the day, and often wonder if that will be me one day... Life is short... Yea, I know, another cliche. Live it to the fullest!

A real hero to say the least. LtGen Chesty Puller, USMC went this same sad route in his final days. Time has little or mercy on anyone.

CPT Aaron Kletzing, thank you for sharing! It is always sad to hear about good people becoming I'll. Over 5 million americans are living with some form of dementia. Dementia kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined and is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. A new case of dementia is diagnosed every 4 seconds. What a destructive disease!
