Good afternoon and Merry Christmas, Rallypoint. Welcome to the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) for December 25, 2024.
The scenes documented in Luke 2:9 may have looked something like this. 'Diamond dust' ice crystals are responsible for reflecting the light of the December 2024 full Moon in the skies over Ore Mountains in the Czech Republic. Moon dogs and light pillars are spectacular in their own right, but toss in the halos, tangent arcs, and parhelic circles at the same time (and some planets to boot)...a true present from the APOD editors. Be sure to visit the APOD page and mouse over the image to see where each separate element is labeled.

You're welcome PO1 H Gene Lawrence. Thanks for stopping by to comment. I notice that you are active on Victory for Veterans. I don't see how I am supposed to login and comment there. Are there any FAQ links you can share so I can educate myself?
