I'm fairly certain LA Times is a left leaner. The first paragraph; "For those rightly concerned about the timing of Donald Trump’s federal Jan. 6 trial, Thursday’s oral arguments before the Supreme Court gave plenty of reasons for worry. Moreover, the court’s conservative majority seemed inclined to define presidential immunity from prosecution in a way that could undermine some of the charges in special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment."

The President exercised what he believed to be his duty to ensure the election results were not tampered with. In doing so, he is acting within his authority to enforce the law. I realize those who hate him will chime in and try to claim he did all this illegally, that he ordered the Jan 6 riot to illegally enter the Capital, and then some. It's all BS. This effort with the SCOTUS isn't to necessarily fight those specific charges directly, he's trying to get them to agree that he can't be charged for acting in an official capacity. Whether people believe there were other ways or that he's right or wrong, is irrelevant for this argument. If the SCOTUS rules he can be charged, THEN he will argue against those charged more directly. Much of which is predicated on whether he conspired to illegally prevent the certification of the election by having people enter the Capitol. He never asked for that, never ordered it, and in fact asked them to remain peaceful. He also offered DC leaders additional assistance prior to the riot. It was refused.

This is such a clown show. The Sad Part is that he is facing real jail time because of this BS as it's pure BS.... Nothing Else. And the whole world stands by......

Of course SCOTUS is going to try to undermine the charges. The conservatives on the court are bought and paid for
