In a dramatic battle against nature’s wrath, Ventura County is grappling with a ferocious wildfire that has devoured over 14,000 acres, leaving a path of destruction and despair. The Mountain Fire, driven by powerful Santa Ana winds, has transformed serene neighborhoods into smoldering ruins, as firefighters wage a relentless fight to protect lives and property.
The fire’s reach has extended far beyond its origin, with embers reportedly traveling several miles, igniting new blazes in their wake. This has forced emergency crews to employ both ground and aerial tactics, utilizing water-dropping helicopters in a bid to curb the fire’s spread.

As many of these fires as they have it amazes me these people haven't taken steps to make their houses more fire resistant. Metal roofs, fire resistant siding, removal of materials and trees next to their residences. There are some common sense steps that can be taken.

At some point, this becomes the very definition of insanity. Much like the hurricane and tornado stricken areas of the US. Rebuilding without upgrading a home's survivability is not very smart.
