I do not know case precedence, but the USG wants to know her source.
It is over a Naturalized American Citizen of Communist China who hid his military service in the PRC.

Getting journalists to reveal sources is a tough nut to crank. SCOTUS consistently has ruled in favor of journalists on this issue.

Great example of how one judge can nullify decades of precedence! Ms. Herridge's article alleged that Dr. Chen had concealed her membership in the Chinese military on her immigration form and that she may have used UMT to funnel information to the Chinese government. Chen wants her to divulge her source... The judge does not want to uphold the press' right to confidential sources... Sounds like a catch 22. I am more interested in: "Did Chen funnel intel to China?"!
