I really hope SCOTUS throws it right back in their face and then makes them responsible for the cost of the defense.

This could definitely set a precedent that the Left never intended. Must we remove all scalpels in abortion clinics since they are used in separating a child from its mother.

That's like suing a major auto maker for a drunk driver killing someone with a vehicle.

Why they didn't sue the perpetrator: he has no money.
Why they didn't sue the Perp's mother who allowed him access to the gun safe: she has no money (and he killed her first)
Why they didn't sue the gun safe manufacturer: it functioned as intended
Why they didn't sue the school district: because they are really sad and sorry
Why they didn't sue the police department: because they live there and all applicable laws were followed in the purchase and registration of the weapon
Why they sue the gun manufacturer: because they have money, because the gun functioned as intended by it's user, because it was properly registered and secured, and it has to be somebody else's fault.
Sometimes evil just happens. There is little one can do to anticipate or prevent an act like this, because who on Earth thinks someone will shoot dozens of second graders? Suing won't bring your kid back, and with all respect to the families involved, your tragedy is not a lottery ticket.
