Do You Know Each One of the Service Creeds?
Most of you know your own Service Creed, but do you know each one of the other Service Creeds or special Creeds?
What does that Creed mean to you?
There are many Creeds for special parts of each of the major Service Branches, so I'll start this question off with the Soldier's Creed!

The Soldier's Creed
I am an American Soldier.
I am a Warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States and live the Army Values.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.
I am an expert and I am a professional.
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat.
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.

Now that's funny! Also good advice.
One of my instructors at the police academy told us before the start of a training exercise: "Always behave as if the cameras are rolling because one day they will be and you'd better be absolutely doing the right thing."

COL Mikel J. Burroughs There are many creeds in the military services of this nation. I never learned the others service creeds because I never swore an oath to become a sailor, marine or airman.
over the decades I have known the Combat Engineer creed, the USMA, West Point Creed, the Soldiers Creed and the Infantryman's creed.
The ones that rings truest to me is the Infantryman's creed:
U.S. Army - The Infantryman's Creed
I am the Infantry.
I am my country's strength in war.
her deterrent in peace.
I am the heart of the fight-
wherever, whenever.
I carry America's faith and honor
against her enemies.
I am the Queen of Battle.
I am what my country expects me to be-
the best trained solider in the world.
In the race for victory
I am swift, determined, and courageous,
armed with a fierce will to win.
Never will I betray my country's trust.
always I fight on-
through the foe,
to the objective,
to triumph over all,
If necessary, I will fight to my death.
By my steadfast courage,

The Rifleman's Creed is outstanding, my friend. It was printed in the rifle range scratch booklet where we recorded our scores during the 1 week rifle range which is an annual requirement for every Marine [even CMC himself]. I became familiar with the infantry man's creed during my 2 1/2 years as an 11B (I started as an 11M but they killed that designation). The Airman's creed still chokes me up. I know my word is my bond and even retired I am not released from a vow. I guess being an Airman has really impacted me because I spent half of my service career in the USAF and I consider myself always to be a Soldier & a Marine. I guess I am blessed.

I actually think of it almost daily, and I have been out of the beloved Corps for over 16 years. The other day I was out in a crowd and I heard the distinctive slur of a DI's yell and I felt a sense of panic until I realized false alarm.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs, I've been bound by any number of creeds during my Army career. However, I must admit I don't know the creeds of the other services. The creeds I've been bound to include the Infantryman's Creed, the Signal Soldier's Creed, the Special Forces Creed and perhaps others as well. In fact, as a detailed Inspector General, we all had to swear a special oath in front of the commanding general, but that's a different story.
However, the first creed to which I ever felt bound, and the one that has resonated most with me throughout my life, has been the creed of my alma mater, Auburn University. Having been retired from the USAR since MAY98, this creed has even more relevance to me in my daily life as those days of responsibility and obligation to the Army have dissipated with time.
The Auburn Creed was written by George Petrie, an Auburn professor and Auburn's first football coach. Supposedly, Auburn is the only university in the country to have a creed, but I certainly can't substantiate that. The simplicity of the words belie the profundity of the creed, but it's the one that I try to live by. GySgt Melissa Gravila

There is nothing specific for Army Aviation I can find, but as an Aviation Mech here is one:
Aviation Mechanic's Creed
Upon my honor...I will hold in sacred trust the rights and privileges conferred upon me as a certified aviation mechanic. Knowing full well that the safety and lives of others are dependent upon my skill and judgement, I will never subject others to risks that I am not willing to assume.
I pledge never to undertake or approve work that I feel is beyond the limits of my knowledge, nor will I allow an unqualified person to persuade me to approve aircraft or equipment as airworthy against my better judgement. I will not be influenced by personal gain, nor shall I pass as airworthy, aircraft or equipment about which I am in doubt either as a result of my inspection or uncertainty regarding the ability of others who have worked on it to accomplish their work satisfactorily.
I realize the grave responsibility that is mine - to exercise my judgment on the airworthiness of aircraft and equipment. I pledge unyielding adherence to these precepts for the advancement of aviation and the dignity of my profession.

I have read each of the Service Creeds but I can't say I have any of them committed to memory. I must confess to having mixed emotions regarding the Airman Creed. I don't have the words to explain but somehow it seems to me Big Blue is trying to justify it's seat at the table with the other adults. I guess it's because many of the actions of the AF for the past several years have left me thinking the senior staff is running around saying, "Look at me! Look at me! I'm important too!" rather than proving themselves where it counts....on the battlefield.

A candid assessment, MSgt Steven Holt, NRP, CCEMT-P. However, the contributions of the USAF can neither be diminished nor under valued. The USAF has ruled the air for a long time and I expect it will continue.

LTC Stephen C. - No doubt sir. I didn't mean to slight my own service. It just seems to me the AF went through a period of trying to justify itself to the other Service components. The USAF has only been around for barely 70 years. We don't have the heritage and legacy of the other Services who've been in existence for 200+ years.

I like to think about it like this. The Wright Brothers first powered flight was in 1903, so no air force can be more than 114 years old. The U.S. Army (from whence the U.S. Air Force sprang) bought the first military aircraft from the Wright Brothers in 1909, so no air force can be older!
By the way, it was the USA Signal Corps that purchased that plane! And, yes, I was in the Signal Corps!
