Young folks these days in high school have learned to be and are encouraged to be far more articulate than we ever were. They are encouraged to have interests and know enough to say something to say about them.
We were still related to in the "children should be seen and not heard mode" of previous generations. Although today's kids are often rushed out of childhood too soon, they are also not limited to being children when high school age these days. And they don't tolerate being told to shut up and sit down when they know what they are talking and present it respectfully. I guess that means we, the boomers, didn't do such a bad job of raising the subsequent generations.<smile>
