6 Oct. 1972: A quartet of VA-82 A-7 aircraft from the USS America (CVA-66) dropped the Thanh HĂła Bridge in Vietnam after seven years of attacks.
They were sent in after two earlier attempts by USAF F-105s and F-100s based in Thailand failed to finish the job.
ILLUSTRATIONS: (1) One of four VA-82 A-7C Corsairs heads for the Thanh HĂła Bridge in North Vietnam. (2) A pair of VA-82 A-7Bs peel off to attack the Thanh HĂła Bridge.

Thanks Dale for this history lesson. There is still a lot that I don't know about the war in Vietnam even though I fought there. I strive to learn more about the war all the time. Thanks for all of your history posts.
