As a Lieutenant, I believed in the Field Grade lobotomy. As a captain, those guys seemed a little smarter, but were still a little weird. As a major, I finally started to see how it all come together, which is why the Lieutenants think they're all crazy.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS this article resonates. The only thing worse than being a Major and an S3 is being a Captain S3, fighting these fights one rank down....and losing a lot, to 'that guy' and Chet from Weird Science (looks good, no make yourself one dickweed). This article really hits it over the fence.

LTC Jason Mackay - LOL. I can definitely see that. My last tour in the Marines with with the MAGTF Staff Training Program. Our mission was to train officers how to be STAFF officers (They had previously been successful Company level Commanders), usually at the Maj & LtCol level but we had the occasional Capt sneaking in due to promotion/rotation timing.
It was always enlightening to watch the exercises play out with 40~ field grades play out in their various groups.
