Fair trial is what is required here; I just am not convinced that's possible given our current judicial system.

It is not the Pentagon papers. It is more important, and more dning for our government. Which is why, even though he has NO DUTY to protect this information AT ALL, our government is violating their own principles to attack this man.
His crime is exposing our government's crimes. That's it. He did not steal the data. He did not hack anything. He did not obtain anything illegally. People brought evidence that our government was operating a massive criminal enterprise - and using their governmental power to cover up their crimes - and he published it.
Yes, most of the information he published was classified. Not his problem, and not illegal. Yes, most of the information he published was obtained illegally. But not obtained illegally BY HIM. So, again, not his problem, and not illegal.
Yes, publishing this data DID put people's lives at risk. Which may have moral and ethical considerations. Potentially even civil ones. But not criminal.
