Thank you my friend TSgt Joe C. for reminding us that on May 07, 1902 that Martinique’s Mount Pele begian the deadliest volcanic eruption of the 20th century. The following day, the city of Saint Pierre, which some called the Paris of the Caribbean, was virtually wiped off the map.

Knew of the eruption, but guess not the magnitude of the destruction. Kind of ironic that Kilaueau volcano in Hawaii is erupting on this anniversary.
