US military guns keep vanishing, some used in street crimes

I've seen this story numerous times in the recent past. It wasn't until I read it again this time that I thought about Hand Receipts. Somebody, at some point, signed one stating that the weapons in question had been accounted for, when they were in fact, not in the Arms Room. It would be a time consuming process to follow the trail, but not impossible. At the closure of Ft. Ord, instead of the units transferring Their TMDE when they went North, it all had to be turned in. From O'Scopes to Pocket Dosimeters, and Hand Receipts updated, for an Infantry Division. (Gonna pat Myself on the back here) In a ~3 month window I handled it without a hitch[ARCOM #2] As I said, maintaining accountability while time consuming, isn't impossible. There are some folks that need to be looked at closely in this matter.
