US-backed Syrian Kurds begin pullout near Turkish border as part of ‘safe zone’ deal

It's amazing how badly we screwed over the Kurds in Syria. We didn't inactively do it by just pulling out, we actively made them defenseless before we did so.

- In late August the kurds disarmed themselves for the most part along the border with Turkey at our request to create a "safe zone". We agreed to do joint patrols with Turkey giving the Kurds the assurance they needed to sit there with their posteriors hanging in the wind at the Turkish border. So they pulled out their heavy weapons and took down their fortifications after we agreed to stay around and keep an eye on things (i.e. US/Turkish joint patrols).
- In early October Trump has a call with Turkey and announces a near immediate pull out of US troops. Two days later US troops are gone and Turkey invades the region.

What we did was bad by leaving them, but it was worse that we did it without notice and even worse we did right after we convinced them to disarm themselves at the border.

The real question that sticks in my craw... Turkey invaded with a force that implies they were mobilized for such an operation. I'm sure they always have troops at the border but they started full on offensive operations within two days. The Kurds had just enough time to pull out some of their people. So my question that I keep coming back to ... does Turkey have the capability to mobilize for full on offensive operations in 48 hours? Exactly how badly did we screw them?
