Yeah, this is about the last thing I would have expected to see in an Army commercial. I guess we've blown our wad with M1s and Apaches and needed to look at the cool stuff the other branches do to earn their pay.

LTC, I'd wager this is an attempt to sway over the already extremely limited pool of military service inclined people towards realizing the Army has boats-- which the average person certainly doesn't think. Just one more "Hey, I'll go talk to a Recruiter" idea.
I've been around 2 boat units, 88K, that were critically undermanned. Even a lot of soldiers don't even know we have watercraft-- and more importantly, that we -need- watercraft operators. So I'd suppose this is more a message of awareness.
