Nice! Something new to (impotently) complain about at Famous Sam's on Friday afternoons. Car features on the installment plan.

Given auto theft rates, why would you want to start your car remotely? Around here an unlocked car is a target, a running one, why not just put a take me beacon up!

I understand that people who live further north like to do this in the winter so they can get into a less than freezing car. I've never used that sort of feature Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen

Lt Col Charlie Brown I lived in North Dakota and never saw the need, you simply unplug the engine block heater, start the engine and let the car warm up while you put the cord for the block heater away :-))

We often use the the remote start feature in summer to cool off the inside of the truck. It can reach over 130 degrees inside the vehicles. The truck stays locked so hard to steal, we also use the spare key to keep it running during errands when it’s super hot. We also don’t live in a heavily populated area…

Starting your automobile remotely if installed is awesome here in the South. If you start your vehicle remotely yes one can hear it run, no it isn’t unlocked, and if by chance someone decides to break your window to steal your car the joke is on them; why? Because the automobile will automatically shut off if the key fob is not detected. The car is rendered useless to the thief.
