Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. of the tragic news that three women were murdered at Yosemite on March 18, 1999.
The bodies of Carole Sund and Silvina Pelosso were found in a charred rental car in a remote wooded area of Long Barn, Califonia. The women, along with Sund’s daughter Juli, had been missing since February 1999 when they were last seen alive at the Cedar Lodge near Yosemite National Park. Juli Sund’s body was found thirty miles away a week after the car was found.
Thankfully thirty-seven-year-old Cary Stayner was identified as a suspect and pled guilty to the Joie Ruth Armstrong murder in 2001. He was convicted of the other three counts of murder in 2002 and sentenced to death.
Sadly Cary Stayner is still sucking up tax dollars because there is stay on the death penalty in California.

"Three tourists disappeared from Yosemite National Park in California – bodies of two are found in a burnt-out car, the third on a hilltop. Evidence leads police to a mysterious Cedar Lodge handyman, Cary Stayner, who was eventually convicted of four murders."
