Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen
The French army and its payroll went right through the town I grew up in throughout the war. For some reason the French headquartered their fleet around Providence RI and marched everything through Connecticut to meet up with Washington's troops. Throughout the war they paid their troops with money brought down through the same route. The route portion through my home town and the town next to us became named Silver Lane because of that history. My elementary school and high school bus stop was actually on Silver Lane.

I know a bit more about some of these battles because I went to Lafayette HS and we learned the background on some of the battles the Marquis was in.
