This is a song I had not heard of before your post LTC Stephen F.; a very good song. Taps plays here on base sharply at 2200 each evening!

Awesome Song!
Taps played Every Evening at Sunset at MCB Camp LeJeune when the Flag was lowered. If you were on Base, you Stopped & ‘Recognized’ the Flag was being lowered! In Uniform, You Saluted! If in Civvies, you put your hand over your heart! Everyone STOPPED their cars and ‘rendered’ proper recognition &Respect!

I remember hearing it and connecting to fellow Vets who been out to the bush and field .. Being a support Services Airman
I spent time preparing sustenance and occasionally doing Security Augmentee.
The last quarter I got pulled from Augmentee duty and s’body else(a new Airman who’d just arrived 3 month before
Got my duty slot.). I went to Thailand for a follow-up tour. And extended.. Our Cmdr. Dug into his psych book.. that was his minor in school.. he seemed to think I es too quiet and I dug into my work and studies to not dwell on what bothered me about my previous tour of duty.. I did that to make the tour go by fast.. I got the terrible sweats occcasionally.. it was hot... it looked as though I had a lot of people who thought they knew me better Thani knew myself.. the House girl who told duty Sgt that my sheets were soaked with sweat and it had not been that hot that night. Twice in a week.. I suppose he’d made a note and passed it on.. I’d been in the canteen we had and a nice fzn keeping it comfortable.. i’m Under it and persperation coming off me in buckets ..
S’body went and got the Cmdr. He said he’d read about something comparable.. I was tired of the attention.. I wanted to go back to the bungalow and get my towel and get a shower.. oh no, Cmdr. called over to medics and they sent a crackerbox
ambulance for to come and get me.. I didn’t even realize I was getting dehydrated.. even over that past week I had lost 6 to 7 lbs. and I lost more.. Theh kept hydrating me with sugar water..a lot if fruit juice.., I felt bad I wasn’t at work..
I had run a fever a few nights.. they ran tests trying to figure what I had.. they thought malaria.. but it wasn’t that.. I didn’t have the D-word.. not disentary..
I hoped the heck not!.. They ruled against send’g me to Philippines .. Japan?... no they kept me in Thailand.. a few weeks later e’thing broke.. fever, sweats.. splotches.. A kind of hives but big red spots.. ..those just went away too..
I got back to work.. I had to weigh every few days.. so they put a piece of butcher
Paper on the big meat scale and I weighed.. the DH NCOIC called it in.. it seems I dropped ;4 more lbs.. I was 5’9” and I was 3 lbs below my minimum weight.. at that time. I suppose I had gotten used to it.. The medics didn’t like that.. they gave me some nasty gray stuff in a foil pack to mix with warm water.. and drink it.. had vitamins and would put some weight back on me.. that stuff was nastier than the diet they pushed on tv..
I tried chilling it in the freezer.. still tasted nasty.. just cold... It was time to go home.. I had all my hold baggage shipped, stuffs sent to Travis insured I fin’t Trust in hold baggage.. I got a call to go see Lt Turotella at Base dietary office
She gave me a six pack of 12 Oz plastic jugs of that stuff made up and some foil packs of the same in powder form. 12 packs.. Drink half a jug each day .. when full ones empty remake more from packets.. There was a prescription on it so I didn’t have a prob on the flight.. So now I got my gear and this stuff too ! I
Found room in my B-4 bag.. i made sure the bottles were super tight.. I had two good flights home.. did I drink the nasty gray stuff? Oh heck no.... I had some real food.! big burgers, big frie, Milk shakes... .. I weighed in.. my weight was getting good again .. I did a salad occasionally. The new Lt dietician who would be. My supervisor had a note cross her desk .. That Lt. At my base in Thailand explained my sitrep in Thailand with her.. Oh, just loverly! So the Lt asks if I had any packets left.. “No ma’m
Those ran out the last 5 or 6 dayside my leave.. I kept my weight steady., I don’t think I need them anymore.. hoping to get away from that stuff.. Along the way I had those night sweats occasionally but didn’t lose weight like in Thailand..
