Wanting to revert back to "the good old days" of Trad wives, keep women pregnant and in the kitchen.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - Scott, that is the same argument conservatives were voicing during the civil rights days back in the 50's and 60's.

MSG Stan Hutchison - No it isn't...not the same argument...apples and oranges...this is no where near the argument for civil rights...that was racial discrimination plain and simple and to keep people out because of race was and is wrong...that is discrimination, this is not...no comparison. There is no discrimination here...they were members of the association and they chose not to follow it's bylaws. It said they had been members for over 40 years which means they abided by the beliefs of the SBC and probably voted for what they were violating...well they knew the bylaws and the constitution if the SBC and they violated them anyway...excommunicating them from the SBC is not discrimination. They willfully went against the voted-on and accepted bylaws. That is called accountability. Stan the left is very quick to throw the word discrimination out there for anything the pops up these days...maybe it sticks or maybe it doesn't but to blanket conversations and labeling with discrimination is wrong...kind of like crying wolf...people are blowing it off these days and fighting true discrimination is losing its power for when an individual truly has a case. They were members and now they are not...excommunicated from that association/organization not discriminated against by the SBC.

Rightfully so...This is a membership organization just like any other organization but because it is a religious organization it gets put in the spotlight. You join an organization because you feel like you can adhere to the organization's bylaws, beliefs, and traditions. This church and others were not in line with the organization's goals or beliefs (whether or not you or anyone else agrees with them) is irrelevant...it is a membership organization like, lets say, the VFW...the VFW has rules and regulations and when you don't abide by them you can be removed from the rolls. The organization as a whole voted on this based on the organizations Charter, constitution, and bylaws all based on their belief...you can't abide by that then you can't be part of the organization...simple. Problem is again, media taking a soundbite and exploding it all over media without context.
Now for scripture references...if one truly believes the bible to be the Holy incarnate, infallible word of God written by men inspired by God then you would understand where the SBC is coming from.
1 Timothy 2:11-15 - New International Version
11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women[c] will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
CONTEXT: This refers to the preaching in a church...If a woman is leading a church as a pastor they are not in line with this passage of scripture. They can serve in just about any role in the church just not as a pastor.
This next chapter and verse refers to qualifications to be a pastor...refers to he and uses the words a man...
Titus 1:5–9: “The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you. An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”

I agree. The religions can have whomever they want as pastors, ministers, priests, imams, or rabbis. No skin off my nose.

From the KJV... 1 Timothy, Ch2
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

Subjugation of women is all throughout the scripture. It makes sense given it was written by men and not women.
