Congrats to SAF!! Confiscation of all "assault weapons". Knives, bats, bottles, bombs, etc are all assault weapons if they are used to do damage to other human beings. Taking people's guns is not going to stop people from being shot and as realistic statistics show will actually increase crime. If people wanted to do harm to others and don't have guns they will resort to other means. Politicians should use their heads and not rely on their emotions and those of others who are naive about the nature of criminals and humans. The police can only do so much (especially during the current politically correct environment where they are not allowed to do their job properly) and often arrive after the fact. So, while I have respect for our law enforcers, I cannot rely on them for the protection of my family if someone decides to rob or come after us. Regretfully, I have a feeling that while this battle was won, the war will be lost in Illinois given Democratic super majorities in both the House and the Senate and a Democratic governor, all of whom seem hell-bent on taking our guns away one step at a time. The Democrats have controlled the General assembly for the past 25 or so years and have ruined this state economically, enhanced crime, and driven out businesses, so it should come as know surprise that they continue their destructive ways by trying to take away our guns. The "Gunsense" movement here in Illinois is very active and well-funded and they are not willing to listen to reason or accept the real facts about gun controls.
