My only interaction with an AC130 was at Rio Hato. It was flying cover at night for us illuminating the area with IR so we could see well past our defensive perimeter.

IR Flares were dropped by the USAF in the VIC of Kirkuk's Regional Air Base. (KRAB). These flares looked really weak. Hours. These particular flares were also dropped by fighter planes. I could hear them fly by. We had scouts out and they were looking for Terrorist elements laying IEDs. You would also put Bradleys In hiding positions near locations of point of origin of rocket attacks to kill those same type of people laying out 107 or 127mm rockets.

Most of my interactions were with C130s as I was a transporter. I can't count the number of 130s I have helped load and unload!
