New poll for Prop 36 shows overwhelming voter support to toughen penalties for stealing

Stealing from stores increases the price of goods for those who buy products from the stores. Many times the thieves sell their loot to people who then sell the products on the internet. Walmart allows other wholesalers on their website. People sell products stolen from Walmart on Walmart’s web site. Crazy.

Isn't it a sad state of affairs that they need to pass a new law instead of repeating the laws that made the stealing okay in the first place?

The will to enforce the law would be a good start. How can that be reality without oversight? In what ways can oversight of city government be achieved?
