I seldom comment if my name isn't included among those invited, but my appreciation for 7.62 x 51 began at Ft. Polk in January of '69. There's been no resurgence on my part as I have owned an M-14 for as long as they were publicly available. I would've taken mine to the Gulf War if I had been allowed to. Incidentally, if you are savvy to the world of the last full size battle rifle, mine was converted to M-21 specs by none other than Joe White. You true aficionados will instantly know of Joe (R.I.P.).

I don't own anything in the 5.56mm NATO chambering. On the other hand the 30 caliber is well represented.
