Back in my Army days, I was a heavy weapons team leader. Among our assigned weapons were the M-2 and M-60 machines guns. Proper head spacing was critical on the Ma Duece. It would have been nice to have the new model back then. It would have saved my guys a lot of effort.

Headspace and timing really isn't an issue if you know your gun. Had a SPC who never used his keys to check, but knew how far to crank forward and back visibly to get the gun to work. It NEVER failed, and he taught us all how to do the same. Never used the gauge again. Helps he was a Ranger and he had a lot of shortcuts that worked on weapons. If you're worried about your flash when firing at night, have you ever heard the Ma Duce at night? It's not like firing a 9mm thinking no one will be able to tell what direction you're shooting from, this bitch is LOUD!! "The unmistakable sound of an AK47.....naw the UNMISTAKABLE sound of Ma Duce"!! Best weapon the Army will ever have.

Well, biggest issue I had was teaching 2LTs how to set headspace and timing since they already knew everything! SSG Warren Swan

Learned how to head space in the field in the mid of winter on the DMZ, 1LT inspecting the guard post was concerned and made sure all the guns were correct.
