The Canadians don't want the F-35 (the Swiss Army Knife of planes that can do everything except nothing very well like taking ground fire unlike the A-10 or beating an F-16 in a Dog Fight). The Liberals of Canada are changing their minds on the F-35 and they are seriously considering the awesome Super Hornet to replace their F-18 C/D models

Thanks for making us aware LTC (Join to see) that the Canadian government is seriously considering the awesome Super Hornet to replace their F-18 C/D models instead of the significantly more pricey F-35.
It makes sense to acquire a thoroughly tested weapons system which has a robust sustainment and maintenance system, than to hitch onto the much more expensive F-35 which has not been tested sufficiently in combat and does not have a adequate let alone sufficient sustainment network yet.

The F-35 while still riddled with software issues is a solid platform that military pilots have confidence in its combat power. The issues do come down to finance for the F-35 comes with an advanced price tag. The Super Hornet is a fourth gen. fighter that takes on air dominance and close air support missions.
