I love reading anything that Jack London has written and most of the books of His I have read more than once. The call of the Wild and White Fang are such classics in My view and reading them never gets old.

SSgt Robert Marx - I still read a lot anyway and I'm almost finished reading another book by Dale Brown, who writes fiction on Military/High tech adventure subjects.
Dale Brown was a former Air Force Captain that flew in B52s. In the last couple months I have read two books by James Patterson and also one of a Historic nature, by Brian Kilmeade, Thomas Jefferson and the Barbary Pirates. the forgotten war that changed American History.

Subjects such as English Literature or anything dealing with History have always been favorite subject areas of mine.

Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that January 12 is the anniversary of the birth of American novelist, journalist, and social activist John Griffith "Jack" London.
AS a young man I enjoyed his novels Call of the Wild and White Fang which were both set in the Klondike Gold Rush.
Rest in peace Jack London
Radio Interview With Jack London three days before his death in 1916.
FYI there are gaps in the sound but it is wonderful IMHO that we can listen to the voice of Jack London over a century after his death.

What a find! I had never heard of this. What a wonderful and beautiful voice. I have always found him and Stephen Crane the best examples of literary Realism and Naturalism. I think the short story "To Build a Fire" to be one of the greatest American short stories ever written. The themes of hubris and fall from nature prevail and the ending of the dog seeking another place of warmth and fire providers was priceless.

Here is a very good adaption of the short story that I have used in high school English classes. It is about an hour long but well worth the time.

Maj Marty Hogan: I Loved Call of the Wild! And, interestingly enough: there is a Jack London Square in Oakland, California.
