We are pushing for a de-commercialized Christmas this year and moving forward. The past few years have provided an opportunity to discover the emotional and cultural manipulations that have been less than covertly deployed upon the people of the United States. Our family is sick of being devalued because we don’t have what the neighbor may have. We are sick of risks that we assume for the sake of conveniences (online shopping, online banking, big social media, and the normalization of debt). We are sick of the politics and believing that electing the right person can free us from our own responsibility, obligation, and consequence. Dinner, cheesey Christmas movies, and card games are the only thing on our agenda this year and perhaps moving forward.

You're absolutely right, Jim, and thank you for the reminder! We're celebrating Jesus' birthday, focusing on the true meaning of Christmas which is about love, giving, and community, rather than commercialism. Enjoy the holiday with your family centered around these values.
