Dreamer, Trump supporter defends White House's bid to end DACA in favor of broader reform

Not going to happen, it’s too good a cudgel to use against Trump.

DACA is crap policy.
If this is what you want, create a pathway to permanent residency. If it isn't, deport folks as you find them after due process.
This in between place we are in only delays action in order to force the issue towards permanent residency. Since it was enacted by EO, it is of questionable legality, so it will always be subject to possible court decision that revoke it entirely.
If we weren't so busy trying to make it a campaign issue, maybe we could solve this.

DACA was created so that Congress could come up with something better and those people who qualify could be protected. It wasn't meant to be a long term solution. Congress needs to fix it and there needs to be serious immigration reform and create a path for them to get citizenship.
