Hmm...This is what we'll face if we don't start building electric producing plants not based on green energy. But then our democrat policy makers are just a step or two away from their Cuban counterparts.

The fed's are warning America of this electrical attack on our grid is soon to happen to us. what do we do then? In the olden days cars had generator's. and common sense from there produced electricity. How ever back in those days most rural families didn't have electricity in their homes. we used kerosene lamps for light, fire for cooking and believe it or not it still works as good today as it did back then.

So glad that under normal circumstances we have backups and folks that can restore power quickly. Hurricanes and Tornados don't seem to like the power grid though.

I grew up in tornado alley in the '80s and we have more power grid issues now than then. Longest time I remember being without power was in 1983 after an ice storm.

Sgt Jim Belanus - It seems with the technical knowledge America has to day it could solve many of the problems they had back then. I know in my town the areas that went underground with their electrical, they never lost power like the rest of the town did. They have the right of way to run the lines that would save millions of dollars in property loss and lives by going underground . these huge fires we are now seeing every year caused by down power lines would be eliminated .

AN Ron Wright - Years ago I used to stop at the PGE yard in Calif and talk to the workers in morning and I asked that question of them. Their reply was " the company says it is to expensive". When I look at the money they are losing on the many fires and replacing home all because High winds took down the power lines because of aging poles one has to wonder how their profit can stay above water with all their loss.

SSgt Robert Simonds let alone the fires and freezes that happen regularly
A 1 time write off in an emergency has to be better than all the extra costs for overtime in hazard situations

Excellent Question Brother, I remember when VP Gore started this global warming. He was asked on tv one day where he got his information. His answer still fits today. " I wanted something the people would remember me by this is normal climate change but it is warn this year" The democrat party run with that as they always do even thought science proved it was normal. What no one is saying and they should is, Big Jets , destroying the grass and trees to build new homes and building , asphalt roads, these are the things that are increasing the global warmings, Not Obamas Cow farts.
