Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that February 7 is the anniversary of the birth of Christian brother, English writer and social critic Charles John Huffam Dickens.
His ability to write transported me to the 18th century as a youth when I read David Copperfield, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol.
The BBC has produced many wonderful versions of his stories from Bleak House to the Pickwick Papers, Dombey and Son, etc.
Rest in eternal peace Charles Dickens!
"Charles Dickens was one of the most popular writers in English in the 19th century. He deserves our attention for his ideas about sympathy, popularity and happiness. "
