I well remember an interview between Tom Snyder and Orson Welles during which Snyder asked, "You've done it all. Radio drama. Film. Television. Live stage. Which was your favorite?" He offered Welles time to think about his response over the commercial break but Welles didn't need it. Radio, was his instant response. Why? Because no other medium engaged the audience like radio. The actors only supplied dialog and sound effects. The audience provided the images in their imaginations. I worked with Welles briefly shortly before his death on a commercial shoot and he confirmed his answer. I later produced a brief radio drama as a training aid and was amazed at the audience response. They reacted with more passion than I had ever seen in response to any other type of presentation.

SSgt (Join to see) - Genius is hardly the word for it. When young, I wandered into an off Broadway theater where a class of actors was performing for Welles. Each had selected a random scene from Shakespeare to perform. They took turns going on stage to announce the scene. Welles played opposite them in each without a script. Apparently, he had every role in every scene in every play memorized.
