Some Generals BAD idea. Short wheelbase, long and powerful cannon, and next to no weight to keep it where it needs to be. I think we did this 60 years ago with the Iowa class battleships with MUCH better results. Fire the cannon and the ship moves six feet in the wrong direction? How will that work when there on some roads isn't six feet before a 1000ft fall? Not to mention that for the weapons that are already on these vehicles, they can be dismounted and used on the ground, can elevate if you have an eagle mount WAY farther than that cannon ever will. Enclosing the turrent? That's one of the blow out areas should something happen. The gunner dies, but the crew has a chance with the blast having a way out....not a way to stick around and deliver secondary explosions.

SGM Steve Wettstein - I understood EXACTLY what you meant. Short and sweet! I was directing mine towards those who've never driven MRAPS, done drills in them, and think more firepower is a "cool" thing. I'm not sold on the CROW system unless they've fixed it so you can load from inside. Looking at the vehicle before I left, there was no way for that to happen. No room inside. No disrespect to you SGM.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL What about stability? That's a pretty damn big gun to put on a lightish vehicle. They're going to have to put it in an enclosed turret and use CROWS for it IMO.

The Pentagon Wars movie for SDM5002 Systems Engineering assignment.
I'm sorry but I can't see a reference to the Pentagon developing a new "Recon Vehicle" without thinking of The Pentagon Wars and I start cracking up
