People need to remember they always get what they vote for. Sewage systems and sewerage enforcement officials are municipality owned and run. If they were stupid enough to let it go private, shame on them.

old sys are difficult and very expensive to rebuild. back flow prevention device placed on the pipe before it exits the home will stop the basement flooding

Absolutely a horrible situation to have exist in the United States. How was this allowed to happens? A quick Google search shows the spotlighted cities to be - wait for it - Democrat leadership mismanagement.

What else is new? I don't know the specifics of this location. I know they have backpressure valves that can be installed in home sanitary sewer line to prevent the back pressure from doing damage like this. It can be pricey to do this but if needed worth it's weight in gold. The question is how much pressure can they handle and how badly has the sewer authority been managed?
