Thank you for sharing my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell it was very sad that 99 sailors mysteriously disappeared 50 years ago when the submarine USS Scorpion sank with all hands on May 27, 1968, after leaving Norfolk Naval Sation on a routine deployment to the Mediterranean.
Rest in peace all sailors who perished that day including Navy Seaman William R. Fennick . Prayers for their grieving family members.

This interesting in that a cousin was supposed to be assigned to this sub . Orders were amended and reassigned to another sub.
That happened when he reported in from leave..

I am glad your cousin was reassigned my friend SSgt Boyd Herrst. The hand of God is unseen by men but HE knows what will happen and for HIS reasons HE adjusts.

Remember this incident well. It was about a week before my graduation/commissioning in Virginia so obviously covered well in the news. When I returned home to Connecticut it was even more in the news due the submarine base and shipyard in Groton.
