Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) has been elected Senate majority leader, setting the stage for him to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (Ky.), who has held the top Senate GOP leadership job for the past 18 years.
Thune has served as Senate Republican whip, the No. 2-ranking position in the Senate GOP leadership, since 2019, and largely managed operation of the Senate floor after McConnell suffered a concussion from a fall in 2023. Thune beat Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) by a vote of 29 to 24, according to two sources familiar with the vote.

I'm not too sure of him yet, he was McConnells' buddy...I was hoping for Scott.

Best if the Senate doesn't go for Trump's pick; that way they can remain independent as they are supposed to be. He is pretty conservative so let's give him a chance.

There is in actuallity only 2 years to "change" the way the government is put back on track. The "deep-state" must be reigned in, and not allowed to make the rules. Only Congress can do that, things are way out of hand. I like the idea of moving government agencies out of DC and stopping programs that should not have been "Federalized". I only hope he helps instead of being a chopping-block to good ideas.
