Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the August 24th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD). Early risers have likely seen something similar to this image, albeit without the August 2024 seasonal blue supermoon. The reddish-pinkish glow above the lunar disk is called alpenglow, and occurs near the horizon opposite the Sun when it is just below the horizon. Here, the Moon is entering the twilight wedge of the Earth' s shadow. The next three full moons in 2024 (September 18th, October 17th, and November 15th) will also be supermoons, so keep your cameras ready in hopes of clear weather where you are.
