APOD: 2024 August 19 – IC 5146: The Cocoon Nebula

Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the August 19th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD). Invisible to the naked eye, the Cocoon Nebula (IC 5146) lies 4,000 light years away near the constellation Cygnus (The Swan). But put a hydrogen filter on your telescope, and features really pop out.
