LOL...we have lots of signage asking people not to shoot off fireworks because it scares the dogs.

When I was a kid our dog would cower in the cellar for 3 or 4 days around the 4th.

When we were children I remember 3 or 4 days of people lighting off fireworks day and night. The only thing to rival it was the first week of deer season. No more, we are civilized now. Not as much fun. :(
